Adeptus Arbites: The civil law enforcement sect used by the Imperium for overall security within its territory, though seperate planet-bound agencies also exist alongside

Adeptus Mechanicus: An imperial sect devoted to the safe and knowledgeable practice of dark arts such as technology and science

Administratum: A vast bureacracy that provides governmental services throughout the Imperium. The Quandrantium Senate is the most senior division of the Administratum in the Galgoth Sector, and in fact a very miniscule part of the Imperiums organisation.

Agentes Augurii: part of the Officio Speculatorum who deal with information gathering. These spies infest dark corners it is said, for the Officio is never without some knowledge of events.

Andrasark: A garden world in the Diadem Cluster, ostensibly under Imperial rule, subjected to a Terminatus order after damnation from the Inquisition.

Arbitrator: Civil guardsman of the Adeptus Arbites

Aro-Lanomas: An Exodite house of the Eldar

Astronomican: A psychic beacon used by navigators to orientate themselves in the void. Thousands of psychically aware individuals are taken from worlds all over the Imperium to join the choir and generate this Guiding Light, and die from spiritual exhaustion soon after.

Auxinister: A world in the Diadem Cluster

Battlefleet Galgoth: A section of the Imperial Navy tasked with security and military superioty within the Galgoth Sector. The fleet is answerable to the Imperial Fortress at Cypra Mundi.

Biel-Tann: The most militant of the Eldar Craftworlds, known for assisting other Eldar factions of differing kinds, and sworn to recreate the ancient Eldar empire.

Brazen Stars: A remote subsector of Galgoth

Bright Hope: A world in the Diadem Cluster

Crucible Draconis: Forge world in the Golden Main of the Galgoth Sector

Cypra Mundi: The Segmentum Obscurus capital and headquarters for all starship movements in the entire region. This world is far from the Galgoth Sector but is nonetheless mindful of the behaviour of sectors under its sway.

Departmento Munitorum: A division of the Administratum responsible for the provision of supplies and recruitment of the Imperiums armed forces

Diadem Cluster: A subsector in the Galgoth Sector

Divine Reward: A modest Drayman class merchant ship once commanded by Geter Von Narimus.

Divisio Militaris: The military wing of the Adeptus Mechanicus

Elbaron: A moon in the Andrasark system upon which an industrial colony had been founded. Now destroyed.

Eldar: Alien humanoids who live in remote craftworlds and who have a turbulent relationship with the citizens of the Imperium. Most famously described as 'capricious and fickle', not to mention inscrutable and haughty.

Electoo: A luminescent tattoo, sometimes configurable, sometimes controllable.

Forgotten War: An ancient conflict that bordered on the Empty Quarter. Even myths and legends are vague, and if any history is recorded, it remains buried in dusty vaults just as forgotten as the battles of our ancestors.

Galgoth Combine: Powerful mercantile guild of the Imperia Commercia dealing with agricultural produce

Galgoth Sector: A political grouping of subsectors found within the Segmentum Obscurus found in the spiral arm on the other side of the galactic core from Holy Terra.

Glorious Aggressor: A Retribution class starship of the Imperial Navy, sent after Rogol Sejaran and wrecked by him in a ramming action. Rebuilt at Nexus Prime under the aegis of the Adeptus Mechanicus.

Golden Main: A subsector in the Galgoth Sector and a desirable region for interstellar trade

Green Tide: Name given to the perpetual but intermittent attempts of orkoids to invade and conquer the Galgoth Sector.

Gurichad: Warrior tribe on Walda

Harako: A planet in the Near Stars subsector of Galgoth Sector. Famed for it's militant population and long service in the imperial military.

Immerkad: A magisterial navigator house of the highest reputation, whose subordinates are found guiding many starships in the Galgoth sector. They have adopted the title of House Dominate.

Imperia Commercia: Merchant guilds.

Ingenium Incursio: A psychic discipline concerning violence toward others.

Jowedamon Necropolis: An infamous void-hive known for its golems and necromantic processes. Despite its unsavoury reputation, it is nonetheless a source of valuable commodities.

Kydensu: A navigator house under proscription, declared as heretics and enemies of the Imperium. No longer a powerful faction.

Legiones Astartes: The elite warrior-monks of the Imperium, upgraded and modified human space marines who operate from fortress monasteries in a semi-independent manner.

Milites: A name given to troops serving the houses of the navis Nobilite. Variable in quality and generally regarded as no match for Imperial Guard units in pitched battle.

Missionarius Galaxia: A sect of the Ministorum (or Ecclesiarchy) that sends out preachers to spread the Imperial Cult

Navis Nobilite: The feudal houses of the mutant navigators, a necessary evil in many eyes, whose members are the primary facilitators of long distance space travel. Without their services, the Imperium would collapse as a political entity.

Near Stars: A subsector in the Galgoth Sector.

Nemnite Conspiracy: Using replicamancy to create clone agents, the House of Nemnos had sought influence both politically as a landed house and also commercially with the Galgoth Combine. The Conspiracy has been revealed and defeated.

Nemnos: One of the old landed dynasties of the Imperium. Revealed as conspirators against the Imperium and declared as enemies of the Imperium. Their power was broken in the Purge of the Nemnites

Nova: (1) Explosive expulsion of debris from an unstable star (2) A senior member of the Navis Nobilite, specifically the ruler of a house who isn't a family patriarch or matriarch. May be defined as a noble title.

Novator: The head of a navigator house, a patriarch or matriarch. Always senior to a Nova in terms of status.

Officio Medicus: An imperial agency that deals with issues of physiology and health, not to mention aspects of xenology and biological warfare. They are independant of the Adeptus Mechanicus who also carry out similar research, and a bitter rivalry exists in this field.

Officio Speculatorum: An imperial agency that deals with strategy and information gathering. They may be called upon for advice and expert direction and have collegiae that deal with all aspects of commercial, political, and military tactics.

Ogryn: An abhuman strain, a divergent genetic branch, in this case much larger than pure strain stock

Optiones: Literally, 'The Chosen', sometimes used as a name for a bodyguard

Orkoids: The Orks are savage creatures of highly developed cunning but little intelligence, preferring brute force and ignorance. They are violent, warlike, and brutal. Few exist within the Galgoth Sector, but huge numbers periodically push inward across the Abatis Arkanum, a phenomenon known as the 'Green Tide'.

Palangian Belt: Low grade asteroid field in the remote Brazen Stars subsector. Known landing sites are Palang and the Wasted Anvil.

Purge of the Nemnites: A bitter and fierce purge of the House of Nemnos who had been proscribed for their conspiracy against the Imperium.

Quadrantine Conclave: An Inquistion cell working from the world of Quadrantium

Quadrantium: The capital world of the Galgoth Sector, found in the Near Stars

Questor Arcanum: A small group of Magos Exploratorii who seek out lost or unique artifacts and retrieve them for study or utilisation. They were originally based in the Conjectural Council on Crucible Draconis until that facilty was destroyed in an inexplicable explosion. They now operate from Nexus Prime.

Red-Code: (1) A generic label applied to anything considered dangerous by the Imperium (2) The nick-name of Rogol Sejaran

Regicide: A common board game played with an array of different pieces on two sides across a pattern of squares.

Relvayan Lawns: A manorial fief of the Sejaran family on the planet of Andrasark, now destroyed.

Ruem-Vad: A refuge for the Aro-Lanomas, which means "Tall Grass"

Sarkian Angel: A recovered Cobra class destroyer under the command of Rogol Sejaran. Originally the Golden Serpent of the Battlefleet Galgoth until the Eldar captured the crew and sent the ship into a warpstorm. Later smashed apart after ramming the Glorious Aggressor.

Segmentum Obscurus: A region of the galaxy ruled as a province of the Imperium. The capital is the planet of Cypra Mundi.

Seneschal: A title used to denote the right-hand man and trusted advisor of a commander

Servo-Skull: The skull of a dead person fitted with suspensors, rundimentary cogitation, and whatever machinery required by the owner, most often intended as familiars or guardians.

Seven Sisters of Seedfall: The genome of Caleria Nemnos was replicated by Darrius Blane  and the golems formed a cadre of political agents to cement power within the Galgoth Combine.

Sisters of Revenance: A chapter of the Adepta Sororitas whose hospice is maintained at Port Sepulchre. They have a merciful face, it is said, but life and death are two sides of the same coin, and militant ambuscades are not unknown.

Skitarii: Soldiers of the Divisio Militaris

Terminatus: A destruction order used to eradicate the inhabitants and their constructs of the targeted world. Once issued, there is no mercy or debate.

 Vevechad: Warrior tribe on Walda

Those who hail from worlds beyond contact with the Imperium may struggle to understand what the various sects and cults stand for. Be advised there are a bewildering number of orders and their infeudated divisions, all of whom claim their rights and monopolies. For this reason, I have devised explanations for relevant  aspects of our galaxy to help understand some of our complex and violent culture.
